Guthrie P.S. Grade 2 student wins international math competition

Graydon Knapp outnumbered them all!

How about that Graydon Knapp?

The grade two student at Guthrie Public School entered an international math contest, taking on nearly 3-thousand others, and outnumbered them all, taking 1st place!

“It was really great to see his perseverance with some of the questions, where he was almost ready to give up when he found the solution. He didn’t rush through the questions and took his time to think and solve them,” said Mrs. Therrien, teacher at Guthrie PS. “We are so proud of Graydon and all of the other students who participated in the contest!”

Each year, students from around the world participate in the online Caribou Math Contest. It’s an online math competition designed to make math fun, while also fostering a love of mathematics by motivating students to keep learning and not give up.

Seventeen students from Guthrie P.S. were among the 2,946 participants who took part.
