A man in Hamilton is facing charges after police say he called 911 over a recent Amber Alert.
The alert was issued late-afternoon on October 1st, over five missing children out of Niagara Region. Within minutes of its issue, Police say a 70-year-old Hamilton man called 911 to complain about being disturbed by the alert, indicating he would continue to call in response to the ongoing alert.
Police arrested the man, who now faces a charge of Mischief and an October 15th court date.
Both the Barrie Police Service and South Simcoe Police Service say no similar Amber Alert charges have ever been laid in either jurisdiction.
