The Handmaid's Tale is renewed for a sixth and final season.
The announcement was made at the season 5 premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday night.
The series adaptation of Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel premiered on Hulu in 2016.
It was a massive hit from the beginning, garnering several Emmy wins and nominations.
The story is about a woman named June Osbourne who is forced into sexual and childbearing slavery in the former United States, now known as Gilead.
In a statement, showrunner and creator Bruce Miller said:
"It has been a true honor to tell the story of Margaret Atwood's groundbreaking novel and chillingly relevant world, and we are thrilled to bring viewers a sixth and final season of The Handmaid's Tale.""We are grateful to Hulu and MGM for allowing us to tell this story, which unfortunately has remained as relevant as ever throughout its run, and are in awe of our incredible fans for their unwavering support, and without whom we never would have gotten to this point."
Even though season six will be the last, the story of this world is far from over.
Miller confirmed that he is developing a sequel.
"The Testaments" will take place years after the events of "The Handmaids's Tale."
And although June Osbourne will have a place in the sequel, she won't be central to the story.
Season 5 of "The Handmaid's Tale" premieres Sept. 14.
No Word on when season 6 premieres.
