High Demand Leads to Hospice Simcoe Expansion

North Barrie Location To Offer Same Free Services to Clients and Families

The ailing and the bereaved have more space to go, thanks to an expansion of Hospice Simcoe.

The second location marked its grand opening this morning, at 130 Bell Farm Rd in the north of Barrie.

“This space will allow our social worker and volunteer team to provide emotional, spiritual and psychosocial support to dying individuals and their families from the time of diagnosis through to bereavement.”  says Kelly Hubbard, Hospice Simcoe’s Executive Director. “Our 10-bedroom, 24-hour residential care facility will continue to operate at 336 Penetanguishene Road.”

Expanded programming for the expanded facility is expected too, including helping children understand grief, and group meets for young adults. As always, the programming offered is done so at no cost to clients or families.

Hospice Simcoe’s community programs have been operating since 1988, while its first residence didn’t open until 2009.
