(UPDATE) Driver charged following Highway 400 collision involving tractor trailer

Highway 400 crash

UPDATE (2:28 p.m.)

Highway 400 northbound at 88 is now reopened according to a post on X by the OPP Highway Safety Division.

UPDATE (1:51 p.m.)

According to police, the truck has been removed. Both the northbound and southbound two right lanes at 88 will open shortly.

Police say in the video both northbound and southbound left lanes will remain closed due to guide rail repair and to expect delays in the area.

The repair is expected to take all of Tuesday and potentially overnight into Wednesday.

UPDATE (12:23 p.m.)

OPP say a 41-year-old Orillia woman has been charged regarding Tuesday morning's crash on Highway 400 that involved a tractor trailer.

In a post on X, OPP Highway Safety Division said the person was charged with carless driving.

In the video, police say the tractor trailer then crossed the centre median into the northbound lanes and struck a dump truck before coming to a rest in the ditch.

Northbound Highway 400 at Highway 88 is closed for cleanup - delays approaching Line 5.

OPP say some northbound lanes are expected to reopen around 1 p.m.

While, in another post, they added that the southbound and northbound far left lanes will be closed for roughly six hours for guide rail repairs.

Previous Story:

A messy commute on Highway 400.

The northbound lanes are closed at Highway 88 after a three-vehicle collision approaching Highway 89 just after seven Tuesday morning.

OPP say a southbound tractor trailer that was involved went through the ditch crossing the northbound lanes and came to a halt in a wooded area.

Video from a dash cam shows an SUV changing lanes when it was hit by a truck travelling in the right lane.
