South Simcoe Police have charged a 23-year-old Bradford man following an insurance and a hit-and-run investigation.
On Sunday afternoon, police say an officer stopped a vehicle on Holland Street in Bradford because the 10-day temporary permit expired nearly a year ago. The driver showed proof of insurance, but was charged with having an expired validation. This was the second validation-related offence involving the same vehicle within two months.
Further investigation led police to discover the insurance documentation that was provided was not valid and that the vehicle had not been insured for three months.
The next day, police responded to a Bradford business where a vehicle had been hit, and the other driver left the scene. Officers determined the suspect vehicle was part of the insurance investigation.
The car was eventually located, and police pulled over the vehicle.
The driver was charged with three counts of operating a vehicle without insurance, two counts of producing false evidence of insurance, and one count each of making a false statement and failing to notify of a change of address.
The accused has a court date in March.
