Honda extending production shutdown at North American facilities, including Alliston, to April 10th
Some indirect associates should expect a temporary pay cut
Honda of Canada Mfg. has told its employees a production shutdown currently on the go will be extended to April 10th at least.
In a memo sent to its associates, Honda blames unprecedented conditions related to COVID-19, including a steep decline in market demand in the auto industry, for the additional measures.
The memo also states that all indirect associates will see a temporary pay cut; admin techs, coordinators, and advanced technical staff should expect to see a reduction of 2 percent, senior technical staff will see a 3 percent reduction, and five for chief technical staff.
The shutdown came into effect on March 23rd.
