How to keep Easter Hopping for the kids

All the fun and treats with none of the crowds

Easter is nearly here, unfortunately, traditional big and crowded Easter egg hunts have to be suspended this year.

The City of Barrie has declared the Easter Bunny to be an essential service worker, but he might not be able to make it to all the homes this year as he is busy taking care of his little bunnies.

That means us human parents need to get creative.

So here are few ideas on how to keep Easter fun for the kids.

Classic Easter Egg Hunt at Home

My personal favourite is to create your own Easter egg hunt right at home. On the night before, hide the Easter eggs around the house, filled with chocolate, candies, or whatever little treats you think they'll like. In the morning watch their eyes light up as they go on the hunt for some treats.

Treasure Hunt

Make up some fun treasure maps and have them go searching for their loot. You can add some riddles and trickier clues for the older kids.

Minecraft and Roblox virtual Easter Egg Hunt

Code Ninjas in Barrie is hosting a free virtual egg hunt in the Roblox and Minecraft worlds on Saturday, April 11th.

It’s fun and free for anyone to participate but you have to pre-register.

Neighbourhood Easter Egg Hunt (Sort of)

Decorate images of Easter eggs and bunnies and place them on your window. Then take a walk or drive and get the kids to spot others who have done the same. You can even offer a bonus prize to whoever spots the most. The more people in the neighbourhood that get involved the better. Remember to keep your distance from others when out there.

Decorate Eggs

This is a classic for a reason. It's fun, inexpensive, and kids love it.
