Huntsville cottage destroyed by fire late Monday morning

Cause of blaze under investigation

There were no reports of anyone hurt after a fire destroyed a cottage in Huntsville.

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Camp Newport Road around 11 a.m. Monday. Heavy smoke and flames could be seen coming from the roof of the cottage.

Fire crews quickly knocked down the blaze, but the building sustained heavy damage, to the tune of $300,000. The fire has not been deemed suspicious, but the investigation into its cause is ongoing.
