A R.I.D.E. check Monday night in Hunstville led the charge and arrest of a man for impaired driving by Huntsville OPP.
At 11:45 p.m., a blue pickup truck approached the checkpoint on Centre Street, where officers noticed an odour of alcohol from the driver, as well as an open alcoholic beverage in a cup holder.
The driver faced and failed the subsequent roadside test, leading to a charge of a 36-year-old from Huntsville for impaired driving.
His vehicle was impounded for seven days, and licence suspended for 90.
"This event could have easily been avoided had the driver planned ahead before consuming alcohol or drugs," Hunstville OPP said in a news release.
