Hydro pole snapped; driver charged with impaired by Barrie police

Significant damage was done to the pole

Significant damage was done to a hydro pole that was struck by a vehicle in Barrie's north end just after 3:30 on Thursday morning.

Police say it happened on St. Vincent Street, north of Cundles Road East.

When officers got to the scene, they located the vehicle and soon after found the driver who was arrested for impaired driving. The individual was taken to the police station for further investigation.

A 23-year-old Barrie man has been charged with impaired driving. He has a date in court next month.

Hydro crews have been working to repair the damage done to the pole, and as a result, St. Vincent Street remains closed between Cundles Road East and Meadowlark Road.
