Impaired driving charge laid in deadly Innisfil crash

A deadly three-vehicle collision in Innisfil.

According to police, they were called to the head-on crash around 8:40 Thursday night on Yonge Street between the 14th Line and Gilford Road, south of Highway 89.

"A black pickup truck traveling northbound collided with a southbound red sedan. The impact caused extensive damage to both vehicles. A third vehicle was also involved in the collision but received minor damage," police stated in a news release on Friday.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim is not being released at this time, police added.

The driver of the truck, a 35-year-old man from Shelburne, has been charged with impaired driving and impaired driving causing death.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or has dash cam footage to contact PC Capeloa at (705) 436-2141 ext 2032.
