Impaired, drug charges laid during pair of Orillia traffic stops overnight

Orillia OPP pulled a vehicle over around 11:00 Thursday night, over a driving infraction, but say it took a turn from there.

They pulled the vehicle over on King St., and say, after some careful poking around, there were grounds to arrest the driver and passenger for drug possession

A 37-year-old Rama First Nations man and 30-year-old woman from Orillia were both charged with trafficking and possession of stolen goods.

Then, shortly after midngith, a vehicle was stopped on West St. in Orillia. Police spoke to the driver and say there were indications the man had been drinking. A 27-year-old Oro Medonte man was givne a roadside screening and charged with drunk driving.

Police say some ammunition was found within the vehicle, leading to charges of careless ammunition transportation.
