South Simcoe Police (SSP) say a "road rage incident" resulted in a two-vehicle collision and impaired driving charges in Innisfil.

Around 9:20 on Saturday night, officers responded to the collision in the area of the 9th Line and Sommers Boulevard.

"One vehicle was run off the road into a ditch. The suspect vehicle then collided with the vehicle in the ditch," SSP said in a news release on Tuesday.

A 33-year-old Innisfil man has been charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, impaired operation of a motor vehicle (excess blood-alcohol content), and dangerous driving.

The accused, who was treated in hospital for minor injuries, had his licence suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

The two occupants of the other vehicle were unhurt.
