Innisfil company fined $60,000 after worker hurt in fall
Worker had not been given site-specific training
MTN Construction Inc. of Innisfil has been fined $60,000 after a worker was injured last year in a 21-foot fall at a construction site in Waterloo.
The worker had tied his fall protection equipment to a piece of formwork that had been installed on a third-floor perimeter wall. As a second formwork was being lifted into place, the first shifted and fell over the edge of the floor pulling the worker to the ground resulting in serious injuries.
The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development determined that workers had not been given site-specific training, and had not been trained on where and how to properly tie off their fall protection equipment.
