Innisfil man facing over 100 charges in firearms investigation

A 52-year-old Innisfil man is facing 115 charges in connection with a firearms investigation that South Simcoe Police say began last month after they received information about a person who was believed to be purchasing and trafficking guns without a Possession Acquisition licence.

On Tuesday, police say a suspect was taken into custody.

With the assistance of the York Regional Police emergency response unit, a search warrant was executed at a home in the area of Webster Boulevard and Innisfil Beach Road.

During the search of the home, police say they seized 20 firearms, approximately 5,000 rounds of ammunition, and various prohibited devices including high-capacity magazines.

Charges against the suspect include uttering threats to cause death, unauthorized possession of a firearm, firearms trafficking, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

The man was held for a bail hearing.
