An eldrly man, known as “the guy” who helped neighbours has gotten some neighbourly love himself.
The South Simcoe Police were contacted around 8:30 Tuesday evening regarding the wellbeing of an 81-year-old Innisfil man. Neighbours, part of a Facebook group helping vulnerable people, delivered food to the man and became concerned about his living conditions.
The caring residents told police the senior was “the guy” who helped neighours without being asked, and they wanted to return the goodwill. Police and Simcoe County Paramedics went to the home to assess him and help arrange home care.
Without a phone of his own, a neighbour agreed to take calls, for the time being, to help arrange home care for the man. The senior, who has hearing and mobility issues, expressed gratitude to his neighbours, paramedics, and police, repeatedly saying “Thank you for caring.”
