Innisfil seeking ways to keep non-residents out of Innisfil Beach Park

The town handed out 130 parking tickets over the weekend

Innisfil’s emergency control group meets Tuesday to discuss ways to keep out-of-town beach-goers from visiting Innisfil Beach Park.

During the weekend, the town said 733 non-resident vehicles were turned away and 130 parking tickets at $75 each were issued. While the majority of people were disappointed and understood the reasons for being turned around, officials said there were two instances in which South Simcoe Police was contacted for assistance.

The town closed Innisfil Beach Park at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday due to congestion along the beaches. The park reopened at 5 p.m. with a “one-in, one-out” system.

Officials said the greatest concern is around physical distancing. The town asks everyone to do their part to make this work.
