People unfamiliar with Mark IV Brothers cafe and variety shop in Orillia are missing out.
The decor is unusual, to say the least. You will find bikes, skateboards, turntables, records, bike helmets, gear for fixing your bikes, neon signs, instruments, and more bike. "It's a reflection of myself," says owner James Kim. He's operated inside the old variety store on Nottawasaga Street for 2.5 years now. Kim proudly shows off the bike he rode from Toronto, which is on display.
He has a motorbike inside the shop as well. The walls are lined with art, inspiration and old records from his time as a DJ in Toronto.
Most locals know the cafe as 'the old variety store' and Kim celebrates that. "I have a picture from the 1970's of the old store hanging here and this one elderly customer comes in all the time to reminisce and buy candy...it's pretty cool." Kim actually still has a selection of chocolate bars and candy at the counter.

Kim says they specialize in the pour over method. "We have a variety of coffee beans from different regions of the world."
