Barrie police are investigating the theft of a Jeep from the parking lot of 366 Bayfield Street.

Officers were alerted about the theft shortly after midnight on Thursday.

"From the investigation that followed, police have learned that a green, 2022 Jeep JJD, with Ontario licence plate PB1O37 was taken some time between 10:15 p.m. and midnight," police said in a news release.

While there was no immediate surveillance video to assist police in identifying the culprit or culprits responsible, officers will be returning to the area and approaching nearby businesses to determine if they have video that may assist with the investigation.

"If anyone observes this motor parked or mobile, you are asked to contact police immediately. With regards to the appearance of the Jeep, there are no known distinguishing marks or damage," police added.
