If Kevin McCallister went grocery shopping today, he would need more than a $20 bill.

In the 1990 film "Home Alone" young Kevin goes grocery shopping to purchase some staples which include

TV dinner
Loaf of Wonder Bread
Frozen mac and cheese
Cling wrap
Half gallon (2L) of milk
Tide laundry detergent
Toilet paper
Half gallon (2L) of orange juice
Pack of army men
Dryer sheets

His total with taxes came to $19.83 with the $1 off coupon for the Tropicana orange juice.

TikTok content creator Geoffrey Lyons did a cost analysis to determine what that grocery bill would cost today.

Including taxes, the bill would be $68.00 with taxes and after the $1.00 coupon, a 248% increase.

He would probably have to pay an extra $1

The video generated tons of comments from math experts.

"For reference, $19.83 in 1990 would equal about $46.68 today. So it's not just inflation. Things are way too expensive now.

Yowzers!
