A disturbing discovery at Aldergrove Animal Clinic on Yonge Street in Barrie.
Cardboard boxes, with 23 highly unwell cats and kittens, were left on its doorstep - four young mother cats and 19 kittens.
Some of them ill. Some of them emaciated. One needs to have an eye removed.
The majority of the kittens have eye infections, most have diarrhea, one is so constipated he is at risk of prolapsing, and all are underweight.
Some serious TLC is needed here.
The Furry Friends Animal Shelter in Barrie - already feeling the strain of kitten season - has taken them in,
But needs financial help to nurse them back to health.
All the cats and kittens will require some sort of supportive care or medication. Then, once they're healthy, will require vaccines, spays/neuters, microchips and parasite treatments. The cost will be in the thousands of dollars.
Funds can be e-transferred to asktheboard@furryfriendsbarrie.com or through its website at http://furryfriendsbarrie.com/Donate. Cheques and money orders made payable to “Furry Friends Animal Shelter Inc.” can be sent to Furry friends Animal Shelter, 25 Hart Drive, Unit 15, Barrie, ON L4N 5R8.
The shelter could also use some high-quality kitten food.
