Leaf and yard waste collection to resume in Barrie, Simcoe County

With winter receding and homeowners spring-cleaning their yards, leaf and yard waste collection in Barrie and Simcoe County is set to resume (yard waste is collected in Orillia on a weekly basis all year round).

In Barrie, the weekly collection begins the week of April 10 and continues until the end of June, when bi-weekly collection begins for the summer. Residents have a regularly scheduled collection day and area (area A or B). Click here to view the city's collection calendar, or here to enter your address to determine your collection day.

To determine your collection zone, click here for the county's Waste Management Calendar. The schedule is also available on the Simcoe County Collects App, which is free to download from the App Store or Google Play.

These collections include leaves, grass, branches (sized and bundled appropriately), and other appropriately prepared garden waste. Residents are reminded to use kraft paper yard waste bags, compostable bags, cardboard boxes, or open-ended rigid containers when placing leaf and yard waste at their regular collection point.

Materials for collection should be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on Monday of the collection week for each area. Collection will occur during the week, not necessarily on residents’ regular collection day.
