Liam Neeson says his late wife Natasha Richardson would never have married him if he played James Bond.

The "Taken" actor explained that he was interested in starring in the James Bond film "Golden Eye," but his soon-to-be wife was against it.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, he explained that Richarson gave him a "James Bond ultimatum."

"My lovely wife, god rest her soul, said to me, 'Liam, I want to tell you something: If you play James Bond, we're not getting married.' So I would tease her by going behind her back, making my fingers as though I'm holding a gun, and then hum the James Bond theme. I loved doing that s&!t!"

He explained why she might have felt so strongly about him taking the role.

"Come on; there are all those gorgeous girls in various countries getting into bed and getting out of bed. I'm sure a lot of her decision-making was based on that!"

Neeson and Richardson met in 1993 while working on a Broadway production of Anne Christie.
They married in 1994, and she sadly passed away in 2009 in a skiing accident at Mont Tremblant in Quebec. They have two sons together
