Former deputy prime minister and finance minister Chrystia Freeland will visit Barrie on Feb. 15 for a town hall and question-and-answer session.

The federal Liberal Party of Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte is sponsoring the event.

"We are excited to welcome Chrystia Freeland to Barrie for this important event,” said Mathew Lund, President of the provincial Liberal Party of Simcoe North. "This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to connect with a leader who has demonstrated vision, resilience, and dedication to making Canada a better place for everyone."

The event will take place at Symposium Cafe at 3 p.m.

Freeland is being challenged for the leadership of the federal Liberal Party by Mark Carney, Frank Baylis, Ruby Dhalla, and Karina Gould.

The Liberals will select their new leader on Mar. 9.
