The Barrie Public Library’s Downtown location is temporarily closed as of Tuesday, June 10, 2025, due to an unexpected watermain issue caused by nearby construction.

What happened?
During construction work on Owen Street, a watermain was accidentally damaged, resulting in an emergency shutoff of water to the library. For health and safety reasons, the Downtown branch is unable to remain open to the public.
What you need to know:
- Downtown Library is closed Tuesday, June 10
- All in-person programs at this location are cancelled
- The outdoor book drop remains open for returns
- The reopening timeline is currently unknown
