Local catholic school board names new head of education

Francis Bagley comes with 30 years of experience in the field

A new Director of Education is taking the reins at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB).

The SMCDSB Board of Trustees has announced Frances Bagley has been appointed to the role, bringing with her some 30 years of education and leadership experience.

Bagley will take over the role that has been tended to on an interim basis. “For the past three months we were blessed to have Catherine McCullough as our interim director of education while we completed a comprehensive recruitment process to find our permanent director of education,” said Joe Zerdin, Board Chair. “Today, on behalf of my colleagues on the Board, we welcome Frances Bagley to our team. We have every confidence that her strong strategic leadership skills, experience and commitment to collaboration, will serve our system very well in the years ahead.”

“I look forward to working collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, staff, students, families and parishes to provide a rich faith-filled learning and working environment for our school and board office communities,” said Bagley. “One of my key areas of focus will be serving the students entrusted to our care through community engagement opportunities that focus on student achievement, well-being and success.”

Bagley will begin her new role on November 1.
