Make Sure Your Ward Three Nomination Paperwork is All In Order

Barrie Ward Three By-Election Scheduled for Late February

Thinking about life as a politician? Now might be your chance, as nominations for a Ward Three By-election are now being accepted.

Barrie City Council ratified a vote to fill the vacant seat via a by-election at its Monday night meeting, meaning staff at City Hall can now accept the nomination paperwork.

But first, you have to do some legwork.

Those interested in filing a nomination for the by-election must first complete the following steps:

  • declaration of qualification
  • endorsement of at least 25 eligible electors in the City of Barrie
  • FOI Release Form in order for contact information to be posted on the City’s website
  • nomination filing fee of $100 (payable by cash, debit card, certified cheque or money order)
  • nomination form

The completed paperwork must be submitted to the Office of the Clerk, on the first floor of City Hall before January 10th at 2:00 in the afternoon. The by-election will be held on February 24th, and the one who gets the most votes will be sworn in during an early March ceremony.
