Report of a male with gun results in road closures in Orillia

Ontario Provincial Police closed roads in the area of Barrie Road and Dufferin Street in Orillia after they were alerted around 9 a.m. Thursday about a suspicious male walking with a firearm.

Within 10 minutes, officers located the individual and placed him under arrest.

Police said it has since been determined the firearm was a BB gun and there is no threat to public safety.

Roads in the area have reopened.
