Days later, police arrested a 22-year-old Barrie man as he exited a bus downtown.
He was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
On Thursday, police said their major crime unit and criminal investigations unit reviewed past occurrences to determine if the accused may be responsible for any other assaults.
As a result, the suspect has now been charged with assault causing bodily harm in connection to an alleged incident in January in the area of Hickling Trail and Maitland Drive, in the city's east end.
According to police communications spokesperson Jennett Mays, a 14-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted while walking on a sidewalk.
"It appears that there was no interaction between the two before the assault," she said in an email.
The youth was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police added that the accused remains in custody.
