
A 20-year-old Barrie man is facing charges after a downtown stabbing early Saturday morning.
Barrie police say officers were patrolling on Dunlop Street East when they were alerted shortly before 2 a.m. to reports by witnesses that a man had been stabbed. The 23-year-old victim was found in serious condition and transported to hospital.

Witnesses said the stabbing followed a verbal argument outside an establishment that escalated into a physical confrontation.
A suspect was located about an hour later in the area of Jeffrey Street and Grove Street East, where he was taken into custoday.
The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
