A 77 year old man was airlifted to a trauma centre following a two-vehicle crash near Waubaushene.

Around 2:30 Saturday afternoon, Southern Georgian Bay OPP were called to a collision involving a pickup truck and a car on Highway 12 between Frazer Lane and Gratrix Road in Tay Township.

Tay fire crews cut the trapped drivers from the wreckage and they were both taken to the hospital in Midland.

The driver of the car was then airlifted to a trauma centre for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup, a 69 year old Georgian Bay Township man, who was treated and released from hospital, is facing several charges including impaired driving and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm.

While police were investigating that crash, they were alerted about a possible impaired driver heading their way on Highway 12.

An OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle caught in the traffic jam.
