Man in a Toronto hospital following alleged assault at Barrie residence

Police executed a search warrant at the address

Barrie Police have arrested and charged a 28-year-old woman after being called to a Pickett Crescent home in the south end shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday regarding an assault.

A 32-year-old male was located at the scene and transported by paramedics to hospital, then airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police spokesperson Peter Leon told Barrie 360 there were other people in the residence at the time who provided information to officers.

Yellow police tape surrounded the home overnight as police executed a search warrant at the address in regards to information related to the investigation.

The woman has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and weapons dangerous.

Leon said the suspect and victim are known to each other, and both are of no fixed address.
