A man has been charged after Ontario Provincial Police received a report around 8:30 Tuesday morning that described a person aggressively swinging a machete-style weapon inside the common area of an apartment building on Maria Street.
A male who saw the suspect fled, according to police, and secured himself inside an apartment.
Police arrived and searched the building's hallways and stairwells. Officers located a man matching the description and arrested him. A machete-style weapon and a hunting-style knife were seized by police at the scene.
A 37-year-old from Pentanguishene was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of breach of probation.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
