OPP in Orillia responded to a report of a robbery at home on Barrie Road Sunday afternoon.

Police say the victim went to a residence and was held against their will by an individual who had an edged weapon. The suspect took the victim's personal property and then fled the scene on foot.

He was tracked down to a residence a short distance away. But he refused to exit the home prompting police to close a section of Dundein St. for a brief period of time.

A 37-year-old Orillia man was taken into custody without incident.

He has been charged with the following:

  • robbery with violence
  • forcible confinement
  • assault with a weapon

  • fail to comply with a release order.

·   The accused was held pending a bail hearing on June 6, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
