Man surrenders to Barrie police in connection to April assault incident

Police say the suspect's vehicle struck a police cruiser and an ambulance

A 33-year-old Barrie man surrendered to police on Thursday in connection with a disturbance in the parking lot of St. Louis Bar and Grill on Big Bay Point Road on April 12, 2022.

Police say what began as an assault quickly escalated and spill out onto the streets when the suspect fled the scene driving in an aggressive and dangerous manner. A responding Barrie Police officer's vehicle was struck and a County of Simcoe ambulance that was also responding to the same call was sideswiped. No injuries to the officer and paramedics, but their vehicles were damaged.
