Manslaughter charge laid in opioid overdose death in Wasaga Beach

Charge caps off a nearly year-long investigation

A nearly year-long investigation into a drug overdose death in Wasaga Beach has resulted in a charge of manslaughter against a 52-year-old Orillia man.

Huronia West OPP said they were called to a Mary Street address on Mar. 24, 2020, where they located a 31-year-old man without vital signs.

The accused is to appear in Collingwood court on Mar. 16.

Police said they are determined to hold drug traffickers accountable by laying charges for drug-related deaths.
