A full closure of Mapleview Drive East between Chef Lane and Royal Jubilee Drive/Lally Terrace is required from Monday, June 8 to Friday, November 20, 2026. The closure is required to complete the Hewitt’s Creek culvert installation.

Through traffic will not be permitted during the closure. Detours will direct traffic via Yonge Street, Big Bay Point Road, and Prince William Way. Access for emergency services will be maintained throughout the construction period. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and follow posted signage.

Barrie Transit routes 12A and 12B will follow a detour from June 8 until construction is complete. During this time, routes 12A and 12B will not directly service the Barrie South GO Station. For full detour information, visit MyRideBarrie.ca/news.

To maintain access to the Barrie South GO Station and Maple Ridge Secondary School, a free shuttle service will operate on both sides of the road closure. The shuttle will operate weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with service intervals of approximately 35 to 40 minutes. The schedule has been coordinated with GO Train arrival and departures, as well as school start and dismissal times.

This work is part of the City of Barrie’s transportation improvements along Mapleview Drive East, from Yonge Street to Prince William Way, supporting planned growth to 2031.
