The suspect was seen breaking into vehicles

Southern Georgian Bay OPP has updated a mischief incident when officers converged on Copeland Street in Penetanguishene around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday after reports of a man breaking into numerous vehicles.

There was a reason the OPP Emergency Response Unit and K-9 were brought to the scene.

Police confirmed later in the day, a man had been arrested.

On Friday, police said the charges laid are the result of mischief and contact with two citizens who spotted the suspect.

A 33-year-old from Midland faces 10 charges including two counts of assault with a weapon and one count each of pointing a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, fail to comply with a probation order, among others.

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
