Southern Georgian Bay OPP is advising members of the public in the area of Little Lake Park in Midland to shelter-in-place.
Police say officers are responding to reports of a possibly armed individual.
Members of the public at or near Little Lake Park are asked to take the following safety precautions:
If you are outside, seek shelter immediately in a secure location.
If you are inside, lock all doors and windows, and close curtains or blinds to avoid drawing attention.
Do not approach or engage with anyone suspicious. Call 911 immediately if you see or encounter the suspect.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and should not pick up hitchhikers.
Follow any instructions provided by officers at the scene.
Individuals not currently in the affected area are requested to avoid travelling there until further notice. An increased police presence can be expected while officers continue their response and investigation.
