Serious injuries in Midland stabbing; OPP searching for person of interest

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a stabbing in Midland that left one person seriously injured.

Police say they were called to a disturbance at an address on Hugel Avenue shortly after 2:30 Friday morning.

Officers found a person outside suffering from serious injuries. Investigators say the injuries were consistent with a stabbing.

The victim was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital.

Police are looking to speak with a person of interest who was seen leaving the area toward King Street.

The person is described as an Indigenous or Hispanic male, about 6-foot-1 and 240 pounds, wearing light-coloured clothing.

OPP say they believe this was an isolated incident and there are no signs of a broader threat to the community.
