Million dollar man in Alliston

The 55-year-old father and grandfather plans to book 'a sunny beach vacation'

Release from OLG

The Lotto Max odds have shone in favour of Roy Benotto of Alliston.  He won a Maxmillions prize worth $1 million in the October 7, 2022 Lotto Max draw.

Roy, a 55-year-old father and grandfather, is an occasional lottery player who purchases tickets when the jackpots are high. “I was at home with my wife checking my tickets using the OLG App when I saw the Big Winner screen appear. I thought ‘No way’ and checked it a few more times to be sure,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I started shaking and after a few choice words, my wife came over to see for herself.”

Roy said his wife thought he was joking until she got a better look. “It was such an unbelievable moment. It’s the best feeling in the world – I can’t wait to see the looks on our children’s faces when we surprise them at Christmas.”

He plans to share this win with his wife and children. “I joke and say I have a million-dollar wife now,” he laughed. “We will do some home renovations and travel. First stop, a sunny beach vacation.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Pioneer Snack Express on Victoria Street in Alliston.
