‘Minor’ fire in Orillia could have been worse if not for working smoke alarms
Careless smoking blamed for fire
Another example of why people need to make sure the smoke alarms in their home are working.
Alarms sounded in an apartment on Dunlop Street in Orillia Monday morning which alerted two occupants about a possible fire. There was smoke coming from one of the rooms.
Fire Chief Brent Thomas said the fire was minor in nature and contained to the room. He credits working smoke alarms for preventing a potentially more serious situation. What fire there was is blamed on careless smoking.
