Barrie Police arrested a 68-year-old woman of no fixed address on Tuesday after receiving a report of an unwanted person.

The officers arrived just after 11:00 a.m. to a residence on Gowan Street, where police say they encountered a hostile and violent person. While police tried to deescalate the situation, authorities say the woman damaged a police vehicle.

"The female, who is of no fixed address, was also wanted by another police service for a number of unendorsed bench warrants," police said in a news release on Wednesday.

She was charged with mischief under $5000.

The woman had a bail hearing and was remanded in custody.
