Huronia West OPP have concluded their search for 87-year-old Harvey Doherty from Springwater Township - police say he was found deceased.
On Friday, May 27, just before 3:30 p.m., Mr. Doherty was located by Aviation Services in a river just over a kilometre from his residence.
Police say he was last seen on Thursday, May 26, just before 4:00 p.m., when he took his two dogs for a walk in the trails behind his residence. Both dogs returned home safely.
Officers exhausted all resources to locate the 87-year-old. OPP specialty units such as the Emergency Response Team, Canine, and Aviation assisted with the search.
The OPP is extremely grateful to the number of Georgian Bay Volunteer Search and Rescue volunteers who assisted.
