A colourful mosaic mural was unveiled Monday on Barrie's waterfront.

This artwork project was facilitated through a partnership between the Rotary Club of Barrie and the City of Barrie to beautify the former Trans Canada Trail Pavilion.

The design was inspired by Kempenfelt Bay and its role as a habitat for wildlife and plants.

Regionally-based artists Angela Aujla and Meg Leslie collaborated on this artwork and its theme. Aujla drew the illustration and Leslie created hand-formed and hand-glazed porcelain tiles. It was installed on-site by the artists with assistance from Barrie’s parks planning team.

This display, located at Lakeshore Drive and Tiffin Street, is part of the city's temporary public arts program.

The artwork was endorsed by the Barrie Public Arts Committee.

According to the City of Barrie's website, BPAC’s goal is to enhance Barrie with art and encourage residents and visitors alike to visit public spaces.
