Motorists Charged After Bypassing Road Closed Signs

Many of Monday's Closures Were Enacted As Motorists Were Already Stuck

The weather got pretty hairy on Monday, resulting in not only plenty of frayed nerves but also a few charges laid.

The OPP say in Clearview, Springwater, and Wasaga Beach combined, thirty-six motorists were charged with Driving on a Closed Highway.

Seems some motorists ignored not just the road blocks and “Closed” signs, but risked their safety driving through whiteout conditions on roadways that had been closed because other motorists had already become trapped.

Many roadways remained closed for the bulk of the day, following a blizzard that also contributed to a massive pileup and closure on the 400 south of Barrie.
