A York Regional Police probe into a multi-million dollar investment fraud led officers to a hotel in Barrie.
A 42-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with numerous fraud-related offences, including Fraud Over $5000 and Falsification of Documents.
The investigation began in 2017 when a woman came forward to say she had been a victim of a mortgage investment fraud. Police say they found 33 victims who had been defrauded of a total of $20-million.
The suspect ran a company called New Horizons Mortgage Investment Corporation.
