Multiple charges laid after plate mismatch flagged by Nottawasaga OPP

The Automated Licence Plate Recognition system flagged a licence plate that was not authorized for the vehicle it was attached to, prompting Nottawasaga OPP to pull over a pickup truck in Adjala-Tosorontio Township.

Police say the truck was stopped around 10 a.m. on July 1st while an officer was on patrol along County Road 1.

The motorist, who was from Orangeville, was charged with multiple offences under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, including using a plate not authorized for the vehicle, owner operating a vehicle without insurance, failing to surrender an insurance card, failing to apply for a permit on becoming owner, driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit, driving a motor vehicle with no validation on plate, insecure load, operating an unsafe vehicle, obstruct plate, and failing to surrender a permit for a motor vehicle.
