Provincial police have charged a man after his vehicle crashed into a motorcycle in Muskoka Lakes on Saturday night, killing the rider.

Bracebridge OPP say the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Muskoka Road 169, near East Black Lake Road. It was a head-on collision between a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and a Reconstructionist attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Police say the motorcycle rider, a 52-year-old from Lake of Bays, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, a 22-year-old man from Springwater, didn't report any injuries. However, he was charged with dangerous operation causing death and is scheduled for a bail hearing on Sunday in Bracebridge.

Muskoka Road 169 was closed for several hours for the on-scene investigation and clean-up efforts but has since reopened.
